On Friday we had the first "real" snow since we've been here. The impending doom was all over the news and the alert was set at code orange (which I found ironic). It was estimated that we were going to get 5 cm (2 inches) in The Hague. Other parts of the country could get up to 4 inches.
At one point during the day they had 800km (500 miles) of traffic jams. It took myself and a co-worker 1 1/2 hours to travel our 5 miles home.
First our train was 30 minutes late, you can see why below or maybe you can't.
After a 4 minute ride on the train, we got to the bus stop. Then our bus was 30 minutes late. The guy below had waited long enough.
Why the delay? It was reported in the paper, "Last time they blamed special snow flakes, now it is hardened ice. Yet in the rest of Europe trains continue to operate without any problems whatever the temperature."
